Fibre optic networks at the Sûre dam in Luxembourg
Tralux selected Blue Wire to support them in the redevelopment works at the Sûre dam. Our teams installed the entire fibre optic network.
Blue Wire Luxembourg was chosen by the TRALUX-DENYS consortium to install 125 kilometres of fibre optic cabling (mixed, with a few copper pairs) in the north of Luxembourg.
The Syndicat des Eaux du Barrage d'Esch-sur-Sûre (SEBES) needs to increase its water treatment capacity in order to keep pace with Luxembourg's rapidly growing population. To that end, SEBES is building a new water treatment and pumping station near the main reservoir at Eschdorf, and is doubling its pumping and supply mains.
The facility is spread across several structures: dams, pumping stations, the treatment plant and water reservoirs. Each of them has to be linked by fibre optic cabling in order to operate.
Blue Wire Luxembourg supplied and pulled the fibre optic cabling providing the links between structures, so as to ensure the control of the installations (valves and pumps), video surveillance, access control and building management.
As additional works, our teams were asked to supply and pull more than 8,000 m of copper electrical cable through buried ducts. This was a new type of operation for us, completed in under three weeks in winter weather conditions.
