A vehicle counting system for an open-air car park

Intro : Repurposing cameras to count vehicles, display availability and drive light signals

The Squiriel Park car park management suite now includes an application better suited to smaller sites. This new solution has been deployed on an open-air car park at a military site.

 

Two counting cameras are used to manage occupancy on the outdoor car park of a barracks. When the estimated maximum number of available spaces is reached, a set of light signals facing the street tells drivers whether they can enter the car park or whether it is full.

The number of available spaces is displayed in real time and can be adjusted manually to allow for temporary visits, such as deliveries.
