Déploiement d'un réseau de serveurs pour six agences en France — Deploying a server network across six branches in France

Our Infrastructure team has set up a server network to support collaborative working for a company active in the telecommunications sector.

  • Project study for a turnkey delivery

  • Requirements analysis for around 150 staff equipped with IT tools across 6 branches throughout France.

  • Deployment, at all six branches, of virtualisation servers built around Microsoft Server 2019 Standard (Hyper-V role), with (system and VM storage on 2 × 1 TB SSDs in RAID 1) and a data storage pool on 4 × 2 TB disks in RAID 5)

  • On each server, creation of three VMs (Firewall, Active Directory, File Server), together with a backup strategy for the VMs

  • Firewall configuration:

    • Design and implementation of the network architecture and the intra-site IPsec links

    • Implementation of the security policy rules on each firewall

    • Implementation of a remote-access VPN for staff working from home

  • Building of the Active Directory architecture, including:

    • Creation of the sites

    • Implementation of the Active Directory security policy

    • Creation of the GPOs (group policies) to deploy: printers, shared folders, various access rights, VPN, software and configuration scripts, etc.

    • Creation of the security groups

    • Creation of the user accounts and their addition to the security groups in order to assign rights

    • Implementation of the DFS (Distributed File System) rules

  • File Server configuration:

    • Configuration of the shared folders and setting of NTFS permissions based on the associated security groups

    • Implementation of the DFS (Distributed File System) folders

    • Implementation of the backup strategy

    • Daily copying and synchronisation of existing data to the new infrastructure ahead of the final switchover

  • Switchover of the branches (one branch at a time) to the new infrastructure (on-site work), including:

    • Integration of 150 workstations into the new Active Directory organisation, preceded by an analysis of each workstation and the installation of all Microsoft security updates published as at day one.

    • First logon for the 150 users in the new Active Directory architecture, with configuration of their sessions and mail profiles.

    • Verification of access rights for each user

  • Production of a complete documentation pack for the infrastructure

  • Knowledge transfer to the group's IT department
